Position: The Mount Holly Municipal Utilities Authority is seeking an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Mechanic. The successful candidate will be a skilled tradesperson capable of installing, dismantling, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, fabricating, and rebuilding mechanical equipment utilized in wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, vehicles, and related Authority infrastructure.
Duties: The Mechanical Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing advanced mechanical maintenance and repairs on equipment located at the Authority's wastewater treatment facilities and remote pumping stations.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience in the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical equipment, pumps, motors, compressors, piping systems, vehicles, and related machinery.
- High School Diploma or
- Ability to read, write, and follow written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and as part of the Authority's maintenance
- Valid driver's
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and emergency assignments when
- Controlled substance screening and post offer physical required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Welding certification consistent with American Welding Society (AWS)
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications
- Experience with wastewater, utility, industrial, fleet, or heavy equipment
Training: Prior experience and mechanical expertise are required. On-the-job training, supervisor instructions, review of manuals and guidelines will be instituted and required
Pay and Benefits: Pay and benefits will be in accordance with the Construction and General Laborers’ Union, Local 172 contract. The anticipated hiring range for this position is $30.33/hr. to $40.73/hr. Starting rate and grade placement will be based on the successful candidate's qualifications, certifications, experience, and demonstrated skills. Benefits include Medical, Prescription, Dental, Vision, PERS pension and short-term disability.

Job Posting – Wastewater Treatment Operator (Entry Level): Posted: May 26, 2026

Duties: A plant operator is responsible for completing daily operational duties to include: equipment checks, housekeeping, landscaping, equipment operation, vehicle operation, preventive maintenance and other duties as assigned.
Requirements: The position requires the employee to be dependable, self-motivated and reliable. A valid New Jersey driver’s license is required.
The employee must be able to follow both written and verbal instructions and perform as part of the operations team.
The employee will be required to work overtime and to provide adequate coverage during emergencies.
The employee will be required to work shift work which may include any or all of the flowing shifts; 11PM – 7AM, 7AM – 3PM, or 3PM – 11PM. In addition, days off are subject to scheduling and could be a combination of any two days during the week from Sunday – Monday. Weekend days off are not guaranteed.
Training: While prior experience will be taken into consideration, it is not required. All Training for the position of Plant Operator will be a combination of on-the-job training, classroom instruction, individual instruction and the review of manuals, guidelines, verbal and written instructions.
Pay and Benefits: In accordance with current CBA between the Construction and General laborers’ Union, Local 172 of South Jersey and the Mount Holly Municipal Utilities Authority. Starting hourly wage is $20.30 during probationary period increasing to $25.18 thereafter. Benefits include Medical, Prescription, Dental, Vision, PERS pension and short-term disability.
